Folded XL begins where paper meets possibility. Designed by Raw Edges studio, founded by Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay, this porcelain panel captures the delicate creases and contours of a sheet folded and unfolded countless times. What started as a small-format exploration eight years ago returns in a monumental 39×118” slab, just 5.6mm thick, where the illusion of paper becomes architecture. Without glazes or dyes, the extra-white porcelain body reveals its folds purely through form. Each ridge and valley pressed directly into the material, creating a surface alive with shadow and memory.
"It’s fantastic that in such a fast-changing world, a product created eight years ago is fully relevant. It is important for us as we are trying to distance ourselves from fleeting trends and fashions. With regard to the new tile size, we are amazed by the newly developed technologies that have enables us to obtain such a large slab in a thickness of just 5.6mm... When we design ceramic tiles, we imagine a tangible material. With Folded, we wanted to recreate the illusion of a sheet of paper.”
