Dintorni
Dintorni is a porcelain collection by acclaimed designer Inga Sempé in collaboration with Mutina, bringing a whimsical reinterpretation to the classic 8×8 tile format. Meaning “surroundings,” Dintorni explores what lies beyond the known, embracing surprise and discovery through a series of distinct visual worlds. Hand-drawn patterns replace digital precision, creating surfaces that feel soft, dynamic, and human. Variations including Scala, Bandiere, Dama, and the dreamlike Isola encourage playful combinations and personal expression. The collection is completed by two solid colors and Raccordo, a glazed porcelain profile in Nero and Caramel that functions as a transition, finishing edge, or small shelf.
“In creating Dintorni, I wanted to surprise myself. I set out to represent worlds that have no connection to each other except for their very estrangement. My goal was to explore the edges of what I know and give shape to what I had yet to discover. Because at any moment, you can see something new—something different from what you’ve seen before. Isola is dream, imagination, and freedom. It is what lies beyond—the place you would go to if you could escape.”
